The logistics firm is investing over €5 million in this production hub. This is its second project carried out in Catalonia, where it has already developed a total surface area of 85,000 m2

The new centre will cover an area of 10,508 m2 and allow Eternity Technologies to extend its installations, open new central offices and create 20 new jobs

Barcelona, Thursday 18th June 2020

Montepino Logística, the largest developer of logistics surface area in Spain, has begun work on the new logistics and industrial centre for Eternity Technologies in Sant Esteve Sesrovires (Can Serra industrial estate, Barcelona). The centre, which will be completed in 2021, will cover a total surface area of 10,508 m2 and will enable Eternity Technologies to extend their installations and provide new central offices.

These new installations, which will be used to produce batteries and accumulators for industrial use, will be equipped with four loading bays plus one for chemical products. It will consist of an investment of over €5 million for Montepino. The new Eternity Technologies installations will occupy Building A of the complex Montepino is developing in this location, covering an area of 23,000 m2.

This new site will feature the most advanced machinery and the most modern production, IT and technical development processes will be implemented so as to provide batteries of the highest quality, all within the strictest international quality, security, health and safety regulations: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

The designs for the new installations also comply with all the quality standards established by the LEED energy certification and feature sustainable energy consumption and high efficiency levels, as do all projects developed by the logistics company Montepino.

Juan José Vera Villamayor, Vice President of Operations at Montepino, has expressed his gratitude for the confidence shown by Eternity Technologies for the development of their production hub located next to the SEAT factory, and has explained that "this is a leading development, fully adapted to Eternity Technologies' needs for space, comfort and automation."

This new centre, which is the second factory Eternity Technologies is establishing in Europe, will have a primary capacity of 240,000 traction elements, extendible up to 400,000. The new installations, which will enable Eternity Technologies to improve their versatility and reduce delivery times for their clients, will strengthen its position as a leading producer of premium industrial batteries.

It should also be noted, as highlighted by Josep Saez, the Director of Operations at Eternity Technologies, that during its first year of activity, this centre "will create 20 new jobs, which is particularly important during this health crisis."

This will be the second project Montepino develops for the Catalan market, where it has already developed a total surface area of 85,000 m2 located in the municipalities of Castellbisbal and Sant Esteve Sesrovires.

This is all part of Montepino's strategy for growth on a national level and its policy for sustained improvement which it has been developing for a long time and which is now being implemented in this post-COVID era. In this sense, Juan José Vera has explained how Montepino is continuing to expand while "moving forwards and finding personalised solutions for the individual post-COVID needs of our clients."

To adapt to the new challenges, Montepino has also recently expanded its in-house team with the addition of two new engineers. These new additions, who will strengthen the technical area, will further consolidate Montepino's team while further increasing its capacity to create sustainable spaces which are adapted to our new reality and have a positive impact on the health and well-being of its tenants.
