The "turn-key" developer's portfolio now includes five environmental awards, strengthening its position as one of the most efficient and sustainable logistics firms on the Spanish market

The logistics firm Montepino Logística has been awarded three LEED Silver certifications for the construction of buildings within efficiency and sustainability parameters. These three quality seals, which are awarded by the US Green Building Council, mean that Montepino now has a total of five quality seals within its portfolio, one LEED Gold and four LEED Silver certifications. This is in addition to the eight further certifications it has in the pipeline for buildings which are currently under construction.

The first of these new LEED Silver certifications has been awarded to the distribution centre Montepino built in Toledo in 2019 for Logisfashion, a logistics platform covering a surface area of 80,000 m2. Another has been awarded to 135,000 m2 distribution centre built in 2018 for XPO Logistics in Marchamalo (Guadalajara).

Finally, the 30,000 m2 e-commerce storage centre built in January 2019 by Montepino for DSV Solutions in Cabanillas del Campo (Guadalajara) has also been awarded a LEED Silver certification.

This reflects Montepino's high quality standards, demonstrating its status as one of the most qualified, sustainable and effective developers on the Spanish market. Juan José Vera Villamayor, Vice President of Operations at Montepino, states that "despite the current climate, Montepino is continuing to work towards innovation in logistics development. We are sticking to our commitment to creating spaces which enable our operators to provide a more efficient service with a lower environmental impact more firmly than ever."

To achieve the levels of transparency and corporate governance needed by well-managed and transparent companies, Montepino has been participating in the GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) initiative since March 2020, creating its Plan for Corporate Social Responsibility and reporting the results in line with the most demanding sustainability standards, both sectoral and general, as well as the recommendations by the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), shareholders' expectations, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its business priorities for the coming years.
