PRESS RELEASE

XPO Logistics and Montepino are expanding their presence in Catalonia with the creation of a new Transportation and Distribution Centre in Barcelona

Barcelona, Wednesday 11th December 2019

XPO Logistics, a leading global provider of transportation and logistics solutions, and Montepino Logística, the leading provider of turn-key projects in Spain, have today announced the construction of a new transportation and distribution centre in Castellbisbal (Barcelona).

It will consist of a platform covering 13,000 m2 on a plot of land totalling 37,000 m2, to be developed by Montepino and operated by XPO, who will double the space currently available for less-than-truckload (LTL) distribution and transportation services in this location and thus expanding their storage space in Catalonia.

This modern cross-docking distribution platform will feature 104 loading bays, turning it into the XPO centre with the highest number of loading bays in the Iberian Peninsula. Its design meets the highest quality standards established by the LEED energy certification with fully renewable energy consumption.

Joan Playà, Mayor of Castellbisbal, together with Massimo Marsili, the Director-General of Iberian Transport at XPO Logistics, and Juan José Vera, Vice President of Operations at Montepino Logística, have today laid the foundation stone for this new centre, which is expected to be completed and fully operational in 2021.

Massimo Marsili, the Director-General of Iberian Transport at XPO Logistics, states: "We are delighted to expand our network of transportation and distribution services in Catalonia. The new platform is providing us with additional capacity to manage our growth and meet peaks in demand. Its location near our existing Supply Chain centre will allow us to create synergies, enhancing efficiency for our clients."

The addition of this centre takes XPO's total surface area in Catalonia to 123,000 m2 shared between 10 Transportation and Supply Chain centres, providing services to over 1800 clients. The company is the leading firm in the Spanish pallet sector, with 60 centres handling the transportation of over 4 million pallets every year.

Juan José Vera Villamayor, Vice President of Operations at Montepino Logística, has thanked XPO for "continuing to place your trust in our team to develop this important project," which will doubtlessly "consist of a giant step forward in the cross-docking processes it covers." Juan José Vera has also highlighted how Montepino "is continuing to grow and progress in the turn-key solutions sector, with ever-more cutting-edge and innovative spaces, which are always fully adapted to our clients' needs."

For Montepino, this project is part of its process of expansion into the Catalan market, where it has already developed a total surface area of 85,000 m2 located in the municipalities of Castellbisbal and Sant Esteve Sesrovires.

This is in addition to the over 300,000 m2 of logistics space which Montepino is in the process of developing in the central zone of the Peninsula (Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha).
