Madrid, Monday 22nd July 2019
Montepino Logística's strong commitment to the environment and the energy efficiency of its buildings has been recognised again. On this occasion, the leading firm in "turn-key" projects in Spain has been awarded the LEED quality seal for the logistics and innovation centre which it developed for CooperVision in Alcobendas.
This certification, which is awarded by the US Green Building Council, attests that this logistics complex has been built in a sustainable manner, including the best features and within efficiency parameters to reduce its environmental impact.
In the words of Juan José Vera, Vice President of Operations, this certification is very important for Montepino as "it is recognition of the commitment we have made to our clients to create cutting-edge spaces, with highly efficient performance and maintenance and which provide a pleasant working environment for their workers."
According to Alejandro Lara, CooperVision's director-general, "this LEED certification for CooperVision Iberia's Logistics Centre is key for our company, given our focus on Continuous Improvement and Respect for the Environment."
This logistics space covers a total area of 16,000 m2 and has hosted CooperVision Iberia's operations in the Peninsula since 2018. Situated in the Alcobendas industrial estate, it is composed of a unit covering 5000 m2 and an adjoining building designed for offices, as well as a parking area for 128 vehicles.
CooperVision Iberia aspires to not just guarantee the best distribution of its products, but also to work with its clients to be their own logistics warehouse, including the option to offer delivery services when expressly requested by opticians, upon agreement with CooperVision sales managers. This possibility would not signify the abandonment of their business position targeted exclusively towards optical centres.
Montepino: a quality seal
Montepino Logística always begins projects within the quality and sustainability parameters that define LEED certification processes. In addition to this LEED certification, this commitment is demonstrated by the six LEED Gold certifications and one LEED Silver certification it has been awarded in recent years. These certifications also reflect the outstanding quality of Montepino's portfolio. Montepino currently has a further four projects in the process of being certified.
CooperVision and its commitment to the environment
CooperVision is reducing its environmental impact and operating in the most sustainable manner possible, focusing on four main areas: water, energy, recycling and people. The company's goal is clear: make each day better than the last for its employees, clients, business and the planet, and be able to share this progress.
